Answer:

0.7

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Two letters are randomly picked from the word gloat.

To Find :  find the probability that at least one is a vowel..

Solution:

GLOAT

Consonants = G,L,T=3

Vowels = A,O = 2

Total letters = 5

Probability of getting Consonant on first Draw =\frac{\text{No. of consonants}}{\text{total Letters}}

                                                                             =\frac{3}{5}

Now remaining letters = 4

No. of Remaining consonants = 2

Probability of getting Consonant on second Draw =\frac{\text{No. of consonants}}{\text{total Letters}}

                                                                             =\frac{2}{4}

So, the probability of getting Consonant on Both Draw  =\frac{2}{4} \times \frac{3}{5}

                                                                                            =\frac{6}{20}

So, the probability of getting no vowel on Both Draw =\frac{6}{20}

So, Probability of getting at least one is a vowel =1-\frac{6}{20}

                                                                               =\frac{14}{20}

                                                                               =0.7

Hence the probability that at least one is a vowel is 0.7
