It is given that the forces are like and parellel. It means that the forces are acting in the same direction and are parellel. For example both will act towards right or both will act towards left, etc.

It is also saying that the two forces are acting on the end [!! NOT ENDS!!] of the rod.

•••So, the resultant force will be along either of the two forces.•••

•••The magnitude of the resultant force will be equal to the algebraic sum of the two forces 20N and 60N respectively. That is equal to 20 + 60 = 80N•••
