Two line segments AB and AC include an angle of 60 degree where AB = 5 cm and AC=7cm. Locate points P and Q on AB and AC respectively such that AP=3/4AB and AQ=1/4 AC. join PP and Q and measure the length PQ

Solution:

A) Draw a line AB = 5 cm in such that ∠BAX = 60°

B) Then Cut a ray AX at point C such that AC = 7 cm

C) Given that AP =3/4 of AB that is we have to divide AB in a ratio of 3:1

C1) Below a line AB draw an acute angle ∠BAY.

C2) Mark any 3 equal numbers of arcs on the ray AY “(A1, A2, A3, A4)”

 C3) Join A4 B and draw a line A3 P which is  parallel to A4 B that cuts AB at P.

D) As, AQ = ¼ AC that is we need to “divide” AC in the ratio of 1:3

E) Join PQ and measure its length.
