The percentage of water in resulting concoction is 17.59%:

Step-by-step explanation:

2 liter of mixture contains 12% water and 88% alcohol.

Amount of water in L =  12/ 100 x 2 = 6 / 25 L

Amount of alcohol in L = 88/100 x 2 = 44/25 L

Now the concentration of each solute in 3 L mixture.

3 liter of mixture contains 7% water and 93% alcohol.

Amount of water in L =  7/ 100 x 3 = 21 / 100 L

Amount of alcohol in L = 93 / 100 x 3 = 279 /100 L

By mixing them we get.

[21 / 100 + 6 /25]  L water = [279 /100 + 44/25] L Alcohol

45 / 100 L water = 455 / 100 L Alcohol

Now we will add 1/2 liter of water =[ 45 / 100 + 1/2 ]

                                                       = 95 / 100 L

Total volume of water  = [95 / 100 L]  + [ 455 / 100 L] = 540 / 100

                                      = 5.4  L

The percentage of water in resulting concoction = 0.95 x 100 / 5.4 %

                                      = 17.59%

Hence the percentage of water in resulting concoction is 17.59%
