Two long straight and parallel wires carry 10 A current in opposite directions. The wires

are 2cm apart. Calculate the magnetic induction at the point midway between the wires.

What would be the induction if the currents were in the same direction?

Answer:

At the mid-point of two conductors, the magnetic induction..

B1 = B2 = B3 = B

Net magnetic field...

B =B1 - B2 = 0

✧... If the currents in both wires flow in the same direction, the forces acting on the two wires are attractive and they will move towards each other. Conversely, if the currents flow in the opposite directions, the forces will be repulsive and the wires will pull away.
