Two long straight conductors parallel to each
other carrying currents in same direction exert
force F, and when carry current in opposite
direction exerts force F,, then nature of forces
between conductors are

Answer:

Given:

2 current carrying conductors are parallel to one another. They experience force F when current is in same direction . Force experienced is F' when current is in opposite direction .

To find:

Choose either of the given options.

Calculation:

1st case :

When current is flowing in same direction in both the wires :

Consider one of the wire. One of the wire produces Magnetic field towards the other wire. The field near the other wire produces a force which pulls the 2md wire towards the 1st wire. Similar thing happens due to magnetic field due to the 2nd wire on the 1st wire.

So , Attractive force is produced , hence we can say that :

F -------> Attractive.

2nd Case:

When current is flowing in opposite direction , the magnetic field I opposite in direction as compared to the earlier case. Hence Repulsion is seen.

F' -------> Repulsive
