two magnets are placed at points a and b their masses are 10g and 6g the magnets are released and collide the speed of first magnet is 3m/s find speed of second

Answer:

m1 = 10g

= 0.01 kg

m2 = 6g

= 0.006 kg

v1 = v2 = 0 m/s

u1 = 3 m/s

According to law of conservation of momentum,

m1u1+m2u2 = m1v1+m2v2

0.03+0.006u2 = 0

0.03 = -0.006u2

The Initial velocity of the second magnet was 5 m/s. It came in negative as it moved in the opposite direction to that of the first magnet.
