Two masses 10 kg and 20 kg respectively are connected by a maasless spring force of 200 N acts on the 20kg mass. At the instant the 10kg mass has acceleration of 12m/s^2, what is the acceleration of 20kg mass??

Force equation for m1 (= 10kg) mass is F = m1a1 = 10 × 12 = 120 N.

Force on 10kg -mass is 120 N to right. as action and reaction are equal and opposite, the reaction force F on 20kg mass F=120 N to the left.

therefore, equation of motion of mass m2 = 20kg is 200 - F = 20 a2.

==> 200-120 = 20a2 ==> 20a2 = 80 ==> a2= 80/20 = 4 m/s^2

Hope it helps u✌

As given the acceleration of the 10 kg mass is 12 m/s^2

So,

The spring force that would have been acting on the mass = F = ma

OR,

F= 10×12 = 120 N in the right direction.

While same amount of spring force will act on the 20 kg mass in the left direction.

So,

The net force on the 20 kg mass in the right direction = 200−120 = 80N

Hence the acceleration of 20 kg mass  = 80/20 = 4 m/s^2
