12 kg body goes down and 8 kg body goes up.

For 12 kg body:

T + 12a = 12g   -----> (1)

For 8 kg body:

8g + 8a = T     -------> (2)

(2) in (1)

8g + 20a = 12g

20a = 4g

a = g/5

Put a = g/5 in (1)

T = 48g/5 N
