According to the question,
First we can draw the figure.
Draw F. B. D diagram of both the block
12 kg block goes down so acceleration is
goes downward.
For F.B.D of block 8kg equation are
T - 8g = 8a ......(1)
For F. B. D of block 12kg equation are
12g - T = 12a .....(2)
From equation (1) and (2) we get,
=> 4g = 2a
=> a = 2 m/s^2
put the value of a in equation (1) we get,
=> T - 8g = 16
=> T - 80 = 16
=> T = 96 N
Therefore,
Acceleration of the mass = 2 m/s^2
Tension in the string = 96 N
