Both are apart 4 3/8 km

Given:

Speed of A = 4 ½ kmph

Speed of B =  5 ¾ kmph

Time = 3 ½

To Find:

How many km apart they are at the end of 3½ hours if they are walking in the same direction ?

Solution:

Calculating the relative speed -

=  5 ¾ - 4 ½

= 1.1/4

= 5/4

Time = 3 ½

= 7/2

Therefore, total distance -

= 5/4 × 7/2

= 35/8

= 4 3/8 km

Answer: Both are apart 4 3/8 km
