Then, X/3 = 21/4 + 21-X/4
= 7X = 2 × 3 × 21

Answer is X = 18

The distance from p to r 18 km.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Two men a and b walk from p to q, a distance of 21 km at 3 km/h and 4 km/h respectively.

B reaches at point q and returns immediately and he meets a at point r. find the distance from p to r.

Solution:

Total distance = 21 km,

At 4 km/hr b covers 24 km in 6 hours = 21 + 3 in return,

At 3 km/hr,

A covers 18 km that is 21 – 3 = 18 km the point r where a and b meet,

Result:

The distance of r from p is 18 km,.
