The distance between two men is 208.84 m

Given:

height of the cliff = 90m

The angle of elevation at top of the cliff in first-person

= 30°

The angle of elevation at top of the cliff at

second-person = 60°

To Find:

The distance between two persons

From point (1)

tan(60°) = height of the cliff/distance of 1st person from

cliff

= Distance Of 1st person = height of cliff/ tan(60°)

= Distance Of 1st person = 90/√3

From point (2)

tan(30°) = height of the cliff/distance of 2nd person

from cliff

= Distance Of 2nd person = height of the cliff /tan(30°)

= Distance Of 2nd person = 90/1/√3

= Distance Of 2nd person = 9√3

Total distance between the two men is

Distance Of 1st person from the cliff + Distance Of 2nd

person from the cliff

= 90/√3 + 90√3

= 90+270/√3

= 360/√3 + √3/√3

= 208.84 m

Hence,

The distance between two men is 208.84 m
