Answer :-

If both of them work together they can finish the work in 2 days.

Explanation :-

Given

One of the men can do a piece of work in 3 days

So, One of the men's 1 day work = 1/3

Another man can do a piece of work in 6 days

So, Another man's 1 day work = 1/6

We know that

Two men's 1 day work = One of the men's 1 day work + Another man's 1 day work

= (1/3) + (1/6)

Taking LCM

= (2 + 1)/6

= 3/6

= 1/2

Two men's 1 day work = 1/2

⇒ Two men can a piece of work in = 2 days

If both of them work together they can finish the work in 2 days.

Rememer :

Total work done in = 'N' days

⇒ Work done in 1 days = (1/N) th amount of work

Also

Work done in one day = (1/N)th amount of work

⇒ Total work done in = 'N' days.

Let the men be A and B can complete the piece of work in x days

ATQ

A completes the work in 3 days

A does (1/3) part of work in 1 day

similarly

B completes the work in 6 days

B does (1/6) part of work in 1 day

So, if they work together, the portion of work they will complete in 1 day =

(1/3) + (1/6) = 1/2

So the time taken to complete the work by A and B together is (2/1) days = 2days

So 2 days is required answer.
