Two metal A and B have work function 2eV and 6eV respectively .what is the ratio of their threshold frequency.

The formula for threshold wavelength λ is as follows:  

λ = hc/ Φ  

Where Φ is the work function of the metal,  

h is Planck's constant,  

c is the speed of light in vacuum.  

Hc is a constant and threshold wavelength is inversely proportional to the work function of metal, therefore:  

λA/ λB =ΦB/ ΦA  

= 6/ 2 = 3  

Therefore, the required ratio is 3:1.
