There are two methods for preparation of colloids :-

(I) condensation method :- this method based on condensation of simple molecules to make bigger particles of colloidal dimension.

\small{\underline{\sf{\green{Example:-}}}}colloidal sulphur is obtained by O2 gas in solution of H2S

2H2S + O2 —> 2H2O + S

(II) Dispersion method :- this method is based on breaking the particles of a ppt. Or suspension to get the particles of colloidal dimension.

\small{\underline{\sf{\green{Example:-}}}}colloidal solution of FeCl3 is prepared by adding a little ferric chloride Solution in freshly prepared. ppt of ferric hydroxide.
