suppose that first number is => t

So, second number is => t+3

t(t+3) = 504

 {t}^{2}  + 3t - 504 = 0 \\  \\  {t}^{2}  + 24t - 21t - 504 = 0 \\  \\ t(t + 24) - 21(t + 24) = 0 \\  \\ t = 21 \:  \:  \:  \: and \:  \:  \:  \: t =  - 24 \\  \\

So , Your number is 21 and 24

Number is -24 , -21

let the numbers be x & x+3

x(x+3)=504

x²+3x=504

x²+3x-504=0

solving equation using -b±√b²-4ac/2a,

x= -3±√3²-4×1×-504/2

=-3±√9+2016/2

=(-3±53.89)/2

=50.89/2

=25.445

x+3= 27.445
