From the 1st Nicol prism 1/2 the intensity of unpolarized light will pass through.
From the 2nd prism the intensity is cos² 60⁰ of the polarized light from the 1st.
So % of light (Intensity) passing through the system = 1/2 * 1/2² = 1/8 = 12.5%
From the 2nd prism the intensity is cos² 60⁰ of the polarized light from the 1st.
So % of light (Intensity) passing through the system = 1/2 * 1/2² = 1/8 = 12.5%
