Let numbers be 5x, 9x

subtracting 3 from each we get 5x-3,9x-3

5x-3/9x-3 =1/2

2(5x-3)=9x-3

10x-6=9x-3

10x-9x= -3+6

x=3

5x= 5(3)=15

9x=9(3)=27

15,27 are numbers

Step-by-step explanation:

QUESTION:

Two numbers are in ratio of 5:9. On substrating 3 from each the ratio become 1:2. Find number.

SOLUTION:

Let one number be 5x

and the other number be 9x

On subtracting 3 from each of the two numbers, we get,

(5x - 3) = x \\ (9x - 3) = 2x

BTP,

(5x-3):(9x-3) = 1:2

=> 2(5x-3) = 1(9x-3)

=> 10x-6 = 9x-3

=> 10x-9x = -3+6

=> x = 3

∴ x = 3

So, the first number is 5x = (5×3) = 15

and, the second number is 9x = (9×3) = 27
