Answer:

Let the numbers be 4x and 7x

Difference of their squares is 297

(7x)² - (4x)² = 297

49x² - 16x² = 297

33x² = 297

= 297/33

= 9

x = +3 or x = - 3

It is a quadratic equation therefore it has two solutions

We take x = +3

4x = 4×3 = 12

7x = 7×3 = 21

So the numbers are 12 and 21.

Step-by-step explanation:

the ratio of two no. =4:7

let the numbers be 4x,7x

according to question

difference of squares of numbers =297

(7x)*(7x)-(4x)*(4x)=297

49x*x-16x*x=267

33x*x=269

x*x=269/33

x*x=9

x=√9

x=3

the numbers are 4(3),7(3)

=12,21
