two no. r in the ratio 5:8. if the sum of numbers is 182 find the numbers

Ratio = 5 : 8 
i.e. if one number  = 5x then , another number is equal to 8x 

According to question 

5x + 8x = 182 

13 x     = 182 

x          = 14 

So the numbers are 

5x = 14 x 5 = 70 

8x = 14 x 8 = 112

Let the numbers in ratio be 5x and 8x.
5x+8x =182
13x     =182
x         =182/13
x         =14
The value of x is 14
So
5x       =5*14
           =70
8x       =8*14
           =112
Ans.= The numbers are 70 and 112.
