I think the question is wrong because the answer is coming in complex numbers.Please check the question.
But the way to solve this problem is this :
Let us assume that the 2 numbers be a and b
According to the question
a+b=6
and
ab=12
Now, a+b=6
=>(a+b)^2=36
=>a^2+b^2+2ab=36
put the value of ab
a^2 + b^2=36-2×12=36-24=12
a^2 + b^2=12
Now, (a – b)^2=a^2+ b^2 – 2ab
=12-24= –12
(a – b)=√(-12)
Now you got 2 equations from which you can get the value of a and b.
