Given, two numbers are in the ratio 2 : 3

Let the constant be x

So, let the numbers in the ratio be 2x and 3x

Given, their LCM is 48

LCM of 2x and 3x is 6x because LCM of 2 and 3 is 6 so LCM of 2x and 3x is 6x

According to the question,

6x = 48

➾ x = \dfrac{48}{6}

➾ x = 8

Sum of the numbers ➾ 2x + 3x

➾ 5x

➾ 5 × 8

 \boxed {40}

∴ Sum of the numbers is 40

\huge{Answer:}

Given:

Two numbers are in the ratio 2 : 3

Their  L. C. M. = 48

Now,

Let the numbers be 2x and 3x

The L. C. M. of 2x and  3x is  6x.

[∵ L. C. M.  (2, 3) = 6 ]

Now,

According to the question,

6x = 48

x = \frac{48}{6}

x = 8

Substituting the value of x:

We get,

2x = 2(8) = 16

And,

3x = 3(8) = 24

Now,

Adding  16 + 24

We get,

 16 + 24 = 40

Therefore,

The sum of the two numbers is 40.
