let no.be x.

ratio of the numbers = 5:3.

so,

5x , 3x .

difference between numbers = 18.

so,

5x - 3x = 18.

2x = 18.

x = 18 ÷ 2.

x = 9

so,

5x = 5 × 9 = 45, and

3x = 3 × 9 = 27.

to check if our answer is correct then,

45 - 27 = 18.

hence our answer is correct......
