Answer:

Let’s try to understand it more clearly.

Take two numbers say 20 and 36

we can write 20 as 2*2*5 and 36 as 2*2*3*3.

So ,hcf =2 *2

and ratio of the two numbers ie 20 and 36 is 5:9

If we want to get back our numbers from the ratio and hcf .We simply do 5*hcf and 9*hcf ie 5*4 and 9*4. We get our original numbers ie 20 and 36.

Apply the same thing to given problem.

Ratio is 15:11 ,hcf=13

So, numbers are 15*13 and 11*13 ie 195 and 143

We are given that two numbers are in the ratio 15:11

Lets start with assuming that then the two numbers are 15x & 11x

Also H.C.F is given as 13.i.e X

15 x = 15 * 13 = 195

11 x = 11 *13 = 143

So the two numbers are 195 & 143.

Since they are in the ratio 15:1115:11, they can be expressed as 15x and 11x. Their HCF is 13, this translates to each number having 13 as the highest as well as the only common factor between them.

Therefore, to find the numbers, multiply the ratio by 13 both in the numerator and denominator.

Hence, one number is 15∗13=19515∗13=195and the other one is 11∗13=14311∗13=143.

When we write 2 number as fraction we cut out the largest common factors that divides both

And write fraction in simplest form

This largest common factor is simply hcf

Here 13

So to get the number back multiply numerator and denominator by 13

Ie, 13x15=195

And 15x15=225

the larger number is 13 * 15 = 195.

the smaller number is ( 13 * 15 ) * 11 / 15

(product of means = product of extremes)

= 195 * 11 / 15

=143
