Let the two numbers be a,b.
a:b = 5:6 or 6a = 5b....(1)
(a-8):(b-8) = 4:5 ....(2)
from 2,
5a - 40 = 4b - 32 or 5a - 4b = 8 ...(3)
from (1) and (3),
5(5/6)b - 4b = 8
multiply 6 on both sides,
25b - 24b = 48 , b = 48
from (1) , a = 40
a:b = 5:6 or 6a = 5b....(1)
