then,

x-y = 16 -------------(1)

or, y-x = 16------------(2)

given, x/y = 7/5

=> 5x = 7y

=> x = 7y/5 --------------(3)

By putting it in eq.(1)

7y/5 - y = 16

=> 2y= 16 × 5

=> y = 40

so , x = 24.

now put eq (3) in (2)

u will get -ve answers .
