Answer:

Let the two numbers =x and y

Now, x + y =161

=>x + 49 + x =161

=>2x = 161-49

=>2x = 112

=>x = 56

thus, the two numbers are 56 and 56+49=105

Answer:

Numbers are 56 and 105.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the required numbers are x and y,

Given, their sum is 161.

⇒ x + y = 161                 ...( i )

According to the question : -

Second number is 49 bigger than the first number.

So, y is 49 bigger than x.

    y = x + 49

Now, numbers are x and x + 49.

Substitute the value of y in ( i )

⇒ x + y = 161

⇒ x + x + 49 = 161

⇒ 2x + 49 = 161

⇒ 2x = 161 - 49

⇒ 2x = 112

⇒ x = 112 / 2

⇒ x = 56

Therefore, required two numbers are x = 56 and x + 49 i.e. 56 + 49 = 105.
