The other number = 2490 - x

Now,
6.5% of x = 8.5 % of (2490 - x)
=> 6.5x/100 = 8.5(2490 - x)/100
=> 6.5x/100 = (21165 - 8.5x)/100
=> 6.5x = 21165 - 8.5x
=> 15x = 21165
=> x = 1411

So the required numbers are 1411 and
$2490 - 1411$
= 1079

So, the other number is (2490-x).
By the condition,
6.5%of x=8.5% of (2490-x)
=>65x/100= 85 (2490-x)/100
=>65x= 211650-85x
=>65x+85x= 211650
=>150x=211650
=>x=1411.
So, the numbers are 1411 and (2490-1411)i.e. 1079 respectively.....
