two numbers are added in the ratio 8:9 . when 12 is subtracted from each term ,the ratio becomes 6:7 .find the original number​

Therefore ratio is 8x 9x

And the two numbers are also 8x and 9x , because ratio is basically division so when you call calculate ratio of these 2 numbers it comes out as 8:9 which is the actual ratio

now when 12 is subtracted from each number ratio become 6:7

in a similar way to what I have to explain above can be written as 6 x 7 x .

now we have

8x-12=6x

8x-6x=12

4x=12

=x = 12/4 = 3

= 9x-12=7x

9(6)-12=7(6)

= 54-12=42

= 42=42

Therefore the 2 numbers are

8(6)= 48

9(6)= 54

When we multiply both together

the answer is 2,592
