Let the numbers be 5x and 9x.

On subtracting 3 from each,

we get (5x - 3) and (9x - 3)

 \sf{  \bold{\frac{5x - 3}{9x - 3} =  \frac{1}{2}  }}

On cross multiplication,

⇒ 2(5x - 3) = 9x - 3

⇒ 10x - 6 = 9x - 3

⇒ 10x - 9x = 6 - 3

⇒ x = 3

Now the 2 numbers are,

5x = 5×3 = 15

9x = 9×3 = 27

∴ The required numbers are 15, 27
