let the larger no. be 4x
and the smaller no. be
according to the question,
(4x+5)/(x+5)=3
4x+5=3x+15
x=10

then the smaller no. is 10 and the larger no. is 40

Let the larger number be 4x

Let the smaller number be x

5 is added to larger number = ( 4x + 5 )

5 is added to smaller number = ( x + 5 )

 \frac{(4x + 5)}{(x + 5)} = 3
4x + 5 = 3 ( x + 5) (cross products )
4x + 5 = 3x + 15
4x - 3x = 15 - 5 ( transposition of terms )
x = 10
Large number = 4x
=4 × 10
=40
Smaller number = x
= 10
Ans)) The two numbers are 40 and 10.
