Let the numbers be 4x and 5x

According to the problem,

(4x + 5)/(5x + 5) = 5/7

=> 28x + 35 = 25x + 25

=> 28x - 25x = 25 - 35

=> 3x = -10

=> x = -10/3

The numbers are 4×-10/3 and 5×-10/3

= -40/3 and -50/3

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the ratio be 4x/5x

ATQ, (4x+5)/(5x+5) = 5x/7x

28x²+35x = 25x²+25x

3x²+10x = 0

x(3x+10) = 0

3x+10 = 0

x = -10/3

Putting the value in 4x/5x

4(-10/3)/5(-10/3)

= 40/50
