SOLUTION

GIVEN

Two numbers are in ratio 4 : 5

Their HCF is 18

TO DETERMINE

LCM of the numbers

EVALUATION

Here it is given that two numbers are in ratio 4 : 5

Let the numbers are 4n and 5n

∴ HCF = n

It is given that HCF is 18

∴ n = 18

Hence the required LCM

= 4 × 5 × n

= 20n

= 20 × 18

= 360

we know that: Product of two numbers = HCF x LCM

It is given that the Product of two numbers are in the ratio of 4:5

 =  > 4x \times 5x

According to the question, HCF is given as 18 which is the highest common factor.

 =  > 4(18) \times 5(18) = 18 \times Lcm

 =  > 72 \times 90 = 18 \times Lcm

 =  > 6480 = 18 \times Lcm

 =  > Lcm = \dfrac{6480}{18}

 =  > Lcm = 360

Hence, the required answer is 360
