The given ratio of the numbers is 4 : 7

Let, the common multiple be a

Then, the numbers are 4a and 7a

Given that,

(3 × 7a) + (2 × 4a) = 58

⇒ 21a + 8a = 58

⇒ 29a = 58

⇒ a = 2

∴ the numbers are

(4 × 2) and (7 × 2)

i.e., 8 and 14
