GIVEN:

Two numbers are in ratio = 5:3

The difference between them = 18

TO FIND:

Find the numbers

SOLUTION:

Let the common ratio of the numbers be x

The numbers be 5x and 3x

The difference between numbers = 18

==> 5x - 3x = 18

==> 2x = 18

==> x = 18/2

==> x = 9

First number = 5x = 5(9) = 45

Second number = 3x = 2(9) = 27

Therefore, the numbers are 45 and 27.

Answer:

Let,the numbers be 5x and 3x

given, difference between the numbers =18

a/q

5x - 3x=18

=>2x=18

=>x=18/2

=>x=9

Now,

we have the value of X i.e. 9.

Therefore, 5x=5×9=45

3x=3×9=27

Justification; 45-27=18
