Given -

  • Two number in ratio = 5:3
  • Difference by = 18

To -

  • Find the numbers.

Solution -

Let the common ratio be x

so,

5 = 5x

3 = 3x

And there difference is by 18, so making a linear equation as -

→ 5x - 3x = 18

→ 2x = 18

→x = \sf\cancel{\dfrac{18}{2}}

→ x = 9

Multiplying -9 by 5x and 3x -

→ 5x = (5 × 9) = 45

→ 3x = (3 × 9) = 27

\therefore the 2 numbers are 45 and 27

Hello !

Given:-

  • Ratio between the no.s = 5:3
  • Difference between the two no.s = 18

To find:-

  • The no.s

Solution:-

Let's assume the no.s as 5x and 3x

According to the question:-

\implies 5x-3x = 18

\implies 2x = 18

\implies x = 18/2

\implies x = 9.

Hence, the no.s are :-

\implies 5x = 5(9) = 45

\implies 3x = 3(9) = 27.
