Hi there !!
Here's your answer

Let the common factor be x

1st Number = 5x
2nd Number = 6x

If 8 is subtracted from each,
1st Number = 5x - 8
2nd Number = 6x - 8

Then, their ratio is 4 : 5

So,
the following balanced equation will be formed

 \frac{5x - 8}{6x - 8}  =  \frac{4}{5}

5(5x - 8) = 4(6x - 8)

25x - 40 = 24x - 32

25 x- 24x =  - 32 + 40

x = 8
So,

1st Number = 5x = 5(8) = 40

2nd Number = 6x = 6(8) = 48

Thus,
the two numbers are 40 and 48

Let the numbers be 5x and 6x

5x-8+6x-8=4x+5x
11x-16=9x
11x-9x=16
2x=16
x=16/2
x=8

The numbers are 40 and 48

Hope it will help you
