Answer:
let the first number of the ratio be x and the second number of the ratio be y
=> 5/6=x/y
=>5y=6x
=>y=(6x)/5 (eq.1)
Also,
(x-8)/(y-8)=4/5
=>5(x-8)=4(y-8)
=>5x-40=4y-32
=>5x-4y=8 (eq.2)
put the value of y from eq.1 in eq.2
5x-4(6x)/5=8
=>5x-24x/5=8
=>(25x-24x)/5=8
=>x=40
Now,put the value of x in eq. 1
y=(6x40)/5
=>y=48
Therefore the numbers are 40 and 48
