[n / (m+n) * 100] * m

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: Two numbers are in ratio m:n.

Find: What is the percentage of second number in the first number?

Solution:

The numbers are in the ration m:n.

So the whole here is the sum of the two numbers, meaning m + n.

Now percentage of second number n in the whole will be = n / (m+n) * 100.

Percentage of second number in the first number = [n / (m+n) * 100] * m.

Given : two numbers are in ratio m:n

To find :  what  is the  percentage of second number is the first number

Solution:

m : n

First number = m

Second number = n

Let say x % of second number is the first number

x % of Second number = (x/n) * 100

Equating with first number

then  (x/n) * 100   =   m

=> x = 100 m /n

100 m /n     % of 2nd number is first number
