Let the rational be x

Two numbers are in the ratio of 7 is to 5.

Thus two numbers are 7x and 5x

If they differ by 6, what are those numbers

7x - 5x = 6

2x = 6

x = 6/2

x = 3

The rational is 3

Thus the numbers are, larger 7x = 7 × 3 = 21 and smaller 5x = 5 × 3 = 15

let 2 numbers are a& b

a/b=7/5

a=7b/5-(1)

a-b=6

a=b+6-(2)

from (1)&(2)

b+6=7b/5

7b=5(b+6)

7b=5b+30

7b-5b=30

2b=30

b=30/2

b=15

a=b+6

a=15+6

a=21
