Two numbers are in the ratio 2:5 and the sum of these numbers is 490. Find the largest of these numbers.

Let the number be x

2 : 5 = 2x : 5x

Now,

\mathtt{2x  +  5x =490 } \\  \\ \implies\mathtt{7x = 490} \\  \\ \implies\mathtt{x =  \frac{490}{7} } \\  \\ \implies\mathtt{x = 70}

First Number :

2x = 2 × 70 = 140

Second Number :

5x = 5 × 70 = 350

As,

350 > 140

5x or 350 is the larger number
