SOLUTION

GIVEN

Two numbers are in the ratio 3 : 4

Their LCM is 120.

TO DETERMINE

The sum of the two number

EVALUATION

Here it is given that two numbers are in the ratio 3 : 4

Let the numbers are 3m and 4m

LCM

= 3 × 4 × m

= 12m

So by the given condition

12m = 120

⇒ m = 10

Hence the sum of the two number

= 3m + 4m

= 7m

= 7 × 10

= 70
