Let the common ratio be x

3x+4x=56

7x=56

x=8

1st number = 3x = 3×8 = 24

2nd number = 4x = 4×8 = 32

The two numbers are 24 and 32

Given : Two numbers are in the ratio 3:4 and their sum is equal to 56

To find : The two numbers.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate the two numbers)

Let, the two numbers = 3x and 4x

(obtained from ratio 3:4)

Their sum = 3x + 4x = 7x

According to the data mentioned in the question,

7x = 56

x = 56/7

x = 8

First number is = 3x = 3×8 = 24

Second number is = 4x = 4×8 = 32

(These will be considered as the final results.)

Hence, the two numbers are 24 and 32
