Solution,

Let, the two numbers = 3x and 5x

(Assume, x as the ratio variable to do the further mathematical calculations.)

New first number = 3x+8

New second number = 5x+8

According, to the data mentioned in the question,

(3x+8) : (5x+8) = 5:7

21x+56 = 25x+40

56-40 = 25x-21x

16 = 4x

4x = 16

x = 4

First number = 3×4 = 12

Second number = 5×4 = 20

Hence,the two numbers are 12 and 20.
