Fraction become

$\frac{3k}{5k}$

By condition

$\frac{3k + 8}{5k + 8} = \frac{5}{7}$

By cross multiplication

$7(3k + 8) = 5(5k + 8) \\ 21k + 56 = 25k + 40 \\ 56 - 40 = 25k - 21k \\ 16 = 4k \\ k = 4$
