It is given that two numbers are in the ratio 5:3 and the difference between them is 16.

So, let the numbers be 5x and 3x, where 5x is the larger number and 3x is the smaller number.

ATQ (According to the question):-

 =  > 5x - 3x = 16

 =  > 2x = 16

 =  > x =  \frac{16}{2}

 =  > x = 8

So, the numbers are 5x=5×8=40 (the larger number)

and 3x=3×8=24 (the smaller number)

Verification:-

It is given that the difference between the 2 numbers is 16

So, the two numbers are 40 and 24.

and the difference between them is (40-24)=16.

Hence, the answer is correct and it is verified.
