Let us consider the ration of two numbers be x

The two numbers are 5x and 3x

Since two numbers differ by 18, we can write the equation

5x – 3x = 18

2x = 18

x= 9

Therefore the two numbers are

5x = 5 x 9 = 45 , and

3x = 3 x 9 = 27

∴ The two numbers are 45 and 27.
