Step-by-step explanation:

GIVEN:-

The numbers are in ratio 5:7

TO FIND:-

The number

UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT,

The numbers are in the ratio 5:7

Let their common multiple be 'x'

The numbers are 5x, 7x

If 3 is subtracted from each of them the ratio becomes 2:3

STEPS:-

5x-3/7x-3 = 2/3

3(5x-3) = 2(7x-3)

15x -9 = 14x -6

15x-14x = -6+9

x = 3

Therefore the numbers are 5 × 3 =15, 7× 3 = 21

HENCE THE NUMBERS ARE 15, 21
