Let their common multiple be 'x'

The numbers are 5x, 7x

If 3 is subtracted from each of them the ratio becomes 2:3

5x-3/7x-3 = 2/3

3(5x-3) = 2(7x-3) (cross multiplication)

15x -9 = 14x -6

15x-14x = -6+9

x=+3

Therefore the numbers are 5* 3 =15, 7*3 = 21
